INDONESIA US$ 215 MILLION PRESTIGIOUS PROJECT ULTRA MINIMALIST OFFSHORE PLATFORM INNOVATION

Indonesia needs large imports of oil and gas energy. Meanwhile, the existing oil & gas production fields are mature old field.

One of them is the Mahakam oil and gas field, which just 50 years old since it started first production in 1974.

This former France TOTAL INDONESIE field, seem to be old and leaves small reserves as potential crumbs.

This is where the innovation is required, so that marginal fields can still be produced profitably in terms of return on investment.

With the collaboration of engineers from state owned PERTAMINA HULU MAHAKAM (PHM), & National Private EPCI Contractor MEINDO ELANG INDAH, the first in Indonesia where the 6 mini platform project using the CAISSON technique for the foundation structure is built.

According to the President Director of Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Mr. John Anis, this US$ 215 million project has several breakthrough advantages, namely:
- This platform is an ultra minimalist type, which is innovatively designed to unlock marginal resources
- ⁠Top side weighs 348 tons, much lighter than conventional types
- ⁠Do not use ordinary piles as foundation stakes, but use Suction Pile Foundation (3 feet). This is the first to be implemented for a platform in Indonesia.

The advantage is that installation can be faster, more economical and can also be moved later if the platform is wanted to be used elsewhere.

Built by PHM and MEINDO engineers., fabricated at the MEINDO affiliated namely MEITECH EKA BINTAN Fabrication Yard, and later on will be transported and installed in East Kalimantan offshore area by the MEINDO EN 3000 working vessel.
